Injectors

DIY Autotune has a GREAT injector pigtail and you can get it with wires attached to the terminals or just get the bare terminals and an empty connector.  They are spring loaded with seals to protect against moisture entering the terminals from both ends.  To release the locking wire to remove from the injector clip from the injector simply push down the wire and the ends are opened up.

This is how we made up an injector pigtail for use in our harness.  Its flexible, protected from abrasions, sealed against moisture and color code tagged for reference to our wiring diagram.  Don't wire your engine so you can't unplug it or have to cut wires and you don't want to use poor quality parts that make bad connections or will corrode and cause problems later on.  This injector pigtail has a green band on one end that corresponds to injector numbers one and three in our wiring diagram.

The ECU side of the harness that plugs into the 4 injector pigtails comes from the ECU through the DIY Autotune harness as two drivers.  As we have chosen, one driver is for cylinders number 1 & 3 and the other is for 2 & 4.  The other injector pigtail for #3 will have a green/white band and those both connect to the green wire in the ECU harness.  The ECU injector driver needed to be split into two wires.  We could have used just one of the drivers and split it 4 ways but that harness comes up from the underside of the intake manifold and two clips go forward and two rearward.  The wires (injector drivers) that we split we crimped those 3 ends using a barrel type connector then one layer of shrink wrap, a coating of the 3M electrical coating to keep moisture out then a final shrink wrap for added protection.

Same method was used two split the two feeds the the positive (+) side from the control relay.  Two 14ga wires from a single 12ga wire.  The 3 wires in the injector driver crimp in the above photos are all three 14ga.  The first picture shows three connections, the lower two are the new ones and the top one is an 88 vintage Mitsubishi crimp in the ECU harness near the control relay.

The fuel rail was color banded with zip ties to match the colored bands on the injector clips.
