Changing Rod Bearings with the engine in the car.
Good idea to do this if you are installing a BSEK in a tired motor.
If you like you may also change the Main bearings with the crank in the car just remove one cap at a time to keep the crankshaft supported to not damage the front and rear oil seals.
See this link for thrust bearing alignment info: Main Bearings after you have changed your mains and see the additional pictures at the bottom of this page below the bearing recall info. pages on how to push the upper inserts out of the block with the crankshaft in.

To change out Main bearings with the engine in the car remove a main cap and take one of the old inserts and bent it to look like this make sure you flatten out the side that has the lock tab on it, that tab can't go around the journal there isn't room for it you need to use the other end to do that. This will serve as the tool to push out the upper insert that is in the block behind the crankshaft. The two pictures below are removing the thrust bearing. Put heavy oil or assembly lube on this bearing piece so it will slide around the journal easily and don't hammer it in and jamb it only tap it in a little at a time and the old upper insert will rotate out. Reinstall the same way making sure you line up the lock tabs on the new insert to the notch cut out for them in the block.
little at a time until you can get a hold on the old insert with something or use a plastic stick in the oiling hole to move it around all the way to the bottom and it will just fall off
do one bearing at a time then reinstall the cap, this will keep the crankshaft supported so you don't put its weight on the outer tin shells of the front and rear main seals and ruin them
