New rear Silent Shaft bearings installed with the proper (dealer) tool

Periodic adjustment of the drive chain for these is required, see instructions at the bottom of this page

We use the dealer tool to install new rear bearings.  These are just two of several that were made by Miller Special Tools.  If you don't want to obtain the dealer tool then take your block to a machine shop and have them install these bearings for you.  You may reuse your old shafts if they aren't scored or you can have them turned down and use an oversized bearing or you can purchase new shafts -which are available aftermarket.  When we do eliminate the shafts the rotating assembly is taken to the machine shop to be neutrally balanced.  Your results on not rebalancing the rotating assembly and just installing the BSEK will vary widely.  When not neutrally re-balancing the rotating assembly after a BSEK is installed, you will likely feel increased vibrations since they are now no longer being canceled out and that is felt much more noticeably on a manual tranny car than in an automatic.  Since this motor is in an automatic tranny car and since the shafts that were in the motor are in great condition we reused them.  I'm not going to start a debate whether or not your experiences were positive or negative after installing a BSEK just that when we do use one, we take the effected parts together to the machine shop to be re-balanced.
